Time to relax: Spa in Rome
[revised March 2026] A holiday should be relaxing.
Usually a trip to Rome is not so relaxing as you can easily end up walking 20k steps a day! But you can find some time in your busy plan for a bit of relaxation in a Spa. After all the ancient Romans invented the thermal baths! Here some addresses:
- Acquamadre: in the Jewish ghetto
- Baan Thai: a centre for Thai massages near the Vatican
- El Spa: not far from the Vatican
- Livia: in a suburban area, but offering spacious facilities and also a pleasant outdoor pool for the summer
- Templum Salutis : if you want to go off the beaten path, this is an hammam in Torpignattara
- Terme di Roma: this is in Tivoli and it is a real thermal experience because their waters – called “aquae albulae” – were known in the past too for their healing properties. Here you also find swimming pools and it’s perfect after a visit of Tivoli’s UNESCO villas
- Terme di Trastevere: as the name states, they are in Trastevere
- Trilussa Palace: the spa is inside the homonymous hotel, at the edge of Trastevere
- Victoria: this spa overlooks the beach of Ostia Lido and it’s the perfect combination with a tour in the archeological site of Ostia Antica
